Reading Workshop Hosted for Parents

Last week, Kathryn Durber-Tsielepis, the English Lead, hosted a reading workshop for parents. The workshop guided parents and carers on how to read at home with a child positively. It focused on encouraging children to read and then discussing the text afterwards. For example, it is best to allow your child to read to the end of a sentence without interrupting.  Additionally, no matter that stage your child is at, it is beneficial to read to your children.

Mrs. Durber-Tsielepis emphasised, 'At Merton Abbey, we aim to support children to develop a love of reading. I hope the event allowed parents to see, we need to read with children and discuss any element of the text to strike conversation around stories or newspapers.'
