New Anti-Bullying Initiative Trial - Y5 & Y6

At Merton Abbey, we take bullying seriously and are delighted to be trialling a new anti-bullying initiative in our school. We will soon be launching the ‘Make a Noise’ programme to our students, their families and our staff.

Internet Matters in partnership with tootoot, and supported by the Department for Education, are launching a programme that provides students, parents and teachers with an online service to report any bullying and cyberbullying concerns they may have, to prompt action by schools and others.  Currently, Year 5 and 6 are trialling this online anti-bullying platform, but we hope to secure funding to roll this out to the whole of KS2 in due course.

At the core of the programme will be an online reporting platform which gives students and parents an easy and simple way to report all issues relating to bullying.

To help students, parents and teachers address the issues raised, the reporting platform is supplemented by resource hubs designed specifically for teachers, students and parents - and giving those that use the platform access to some really helpful advice and guidance about how to deal with any incidence of bullying. Our aim is to create a one-stop shop for bullying support.

Each student will be given a username and password, which allows them to log in and use ‘Make a noise’. They are then able to quickly access the relevant resources or report incidents directly to their school. Only teachers and students from our school will be able to communicate with one another and all users can access the ‘Make a noise’ site on their mobile, tablets and computers by typing www.makeanoise.info

‘Make a noise’ for parents, guardians or carers

‘Make a noise’ also allows parents, guardians or carers to sign up to report  any bullying or cyberbullying problems or incidents directly to your child’s school, along with accessing leading resources, in four easy steps.

Step 1: Type www.makeanoise.info into your browser or search engine

Step 2: Select your child’s school from menu that says, “Select your school”

Step 3: Under the log in box click, “Are you a parent/guardian? Sign up”

Step 4: Enter details, Click ‘Create an account’ and wait to be accepted

Please do take the time to have a look at the ‘Make a noise’ platform and if you have any concerns about your child please do use the platform to highlight those concerns to school. Mrs. Ogunnubi-Sime Assistant Head and Behaviour Lead will respond to all concerns.
