Summer Fair a huge success

Merton Abbey Primary School Summer Fair ‘a huge success’

The annual Merton Abbey Primary School summer fair on 23rd June 2018 was a “huge success” according to Melissa Murrill, Chair of Friends of Merton Abbey School.

Melissa said: "The Summer Fair is always a real hit with the children and this year was no different. It is brilliant for bringing families together and lovely to see everyone enjoying the beautiful weather.”

The Mayor of Merton, Cllr Mary Curton, was welcomed to the fair by Melissa Murrill and headteacher, Michael Bradley.  The children were able to sit in a fire engine and get a hug from Eddie Cat. They raced each other on the 45ft inflatable obstacle course, thanks to the kind support from Clarion Housing who attended to talk through the forthcoming regeneration of the High Path Estate. There was also a range of stalls and games, and the highlight was the chance to soak Mr Bradley in the stocks!

Michael said: “It’s an occasion for the whole community to come together and it’s great to see so many children and their families here enjoying themselves, and raising valuable funds for the school in the process. Thank you to Friends and to the generous staff, parents and carers of our community for all their help; it made it a fantastic day.”
