Visit from Dr Ronke

On Thursday 4th of May, Dr Ronke Ikharia, Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine for Homerton Hospital visited Merton Abbey Primary school. The children loved finding out about the training that she had to undertake to become an emergency doctor. Dr. Ronx knew she wanted to be a doctor from the age of twelve and many of our Year 6 children said that they too wanted to become doctors. Dr Ronke shared with the children that she trained for seven years to become a doctor and did many jobs in order to support herself whilst training. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about Dr. Ronke’s journey from childhood to adulthood. She spoke about the range of people that she has helped from mothers in labour to elderly patients in A and E. Dr. Ronx told the children that they are the future and that if you work hard, you can fulfill your dreams. Dr Ronx stated that they are the future and that it does not matter what your background is, if you are determined, hardworking and dedicated,,,the sky is the limit!
