  • Y3 Heritage walk

    Thu 14 Jan 2016

On Thursday 14th January, Year 3 went on a local history walk, organised by Communities First:

We visited the former sites of William Morris and Arthur Liberty's textile factories, and heard from someone who used to work there! We then walked to Morden Hall, where we had a workshop about the jobs that would have been done on Mr Hatfield's estate over a hundred years ago. We had great fun dressing up and trying to read the handwriting on an old census! We will be doing lots of follow-up work back at school.

  • Year 2 visit the Polka Theatre

    Wed 13 Jan 2016

On Wednesday morning, children from Liberty and Morris classes had an exciting educational visit to watch Beauty and the Beast at the Polka Theatre. The actors retold the story of Belle and the Beast through drama and dance. Using a range of props, lighting and staging, they created different sceneries including a terrible shipwreck, a moonlit moor and a magical castle. It was brilliantly done and retold the story in an interesting and engaging way. Highlights for the children were the scary beast, the pretend fighting scenes and the romantic kiss between Belle and the Beast!
