• The Royal Garden Party

  Merton Abbey’s Garden Party.

  Merton Abbey’s staff and children enjoyed a beautiful afternoon, basking in the sunshine and eating delicious treats on Friday 17^th May, to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The children danced, sang, played fun games, and had their faces painted. The Mayor of Merton came to visit and planted a beautiful apple tree, donated by Friends of Merton Abbey School (FOMAS), to mark this wonderful occasion. All of the children had a lovely time. On behalf of the staff at Merton Abbey, I would like to thank all of the wonderful donations parents/carers handed in and I would like to thank the parents and staff that helped on the day too. Mrs Ogunnubi-Sime, Assistant Head teacher.

  

• Kingswood 2018

  From Friday 11th May to Monday the 14th May, 35 children from years 3 and 4 enjoyed a fun-packed weekend on the Isle of Wight at the Kingswood centre. Activities included the 3G swing, climbing, archery and laser quest!

   

  The children had a wonderful time and were very brave, as for many of them, it was their first time away from home. It was great seeing how the children challenged themselves. Thanks to Mr Knox, Mrs Goodwin, Mrs Murphy, Mr Hadwen and Mrs Lynn for helping the children over the weekend. Well done, Merton Abbey!

   

  

• Yr4 Chess club

  Year 4 have been learning how to play chess. Each week they learn how a new piece moves and is played. They have been thinking strategically and have been beating all the grownups.

  

• Techtopia festival at the Polka Theatre

  Y1 children had a wonderful opportunity to sample the Techtopia festival at the Polka Theatre.

   

  The festival explores how children feel about technology and how it will shape their future.
