Children New to Reception

A big thank you to all the Reception parents who supported us with our new transition procedures for starting Reception, it has been a great success! The children have made an excellent start and enabled us to get stuck into learning the curriculum very quickly. Children have a staggered intake with parents staying with them on the first day until after lunch to help support a smooth and happy start to Reception. This was introduced to enable the children to settle in quicker and enable children to make progress right from the beginning of term.

Roald Dahl Day

On Friday, children across the school celebrated the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl's birth. Many of Dahl's characters could be seen in school such as Charlie, Matilda, Fantastic Mr Fox and Willy Wonka! In celebration of his anniversary the children have based their learning in English lessons around a Roald Dahl book. Some of this wonderful work is displayed around the school so please take a look at it when you are in school!

Fantastic start to the new school year

Welcome back! It was wonderful to welcome back the children after the summer holidays. The Merton Abbey staff team are looking forward to an exciting new year of learning and success. We know the children are ready to work hard and achieve their best!
